Make-up is the most important thing in fashion - the number one thing actually. Make-up is a product used to bring out the eyes and face. The Ancient Egyptians knew that and definitely knew how to use it. The Ancient Egyptians totally knew this fashion rule! Men and women wore make-up; the most common colors were green and black. They did not go to the mall and hit the Sephora stores and load up on the make-up like we do today. They had to make their own make-up out of minerals. They would then make the minerals into a paste. Because the Egyptians put their make-up on thick, it was made into a paste that was much easier to apply. The type of mineral used to make the make-up was called Kohl. One reason both men and women wore make-up was because it was used as a protector, or sun screen, to protect their faces and skin from the bright, harsh sun and the harsh, strong winds of the hot Sahara Desert. So, now boys, there is a reason why the guys wore make-up. I know it sounds weird. It did to me, too, at the time, but then I read more and I figured out it was normal. So, we need to thank the Egyptians for teaching us the cool tricks of make-up!
